How it works?
This cutting-edge advancement in aesthetic treatments utilizes plasma, the fourth state of matter, to activate fibroblast cells—hence the name "Plasma Fibroblast." Often referred to as "Soft Surgery" or a "Non-surgical Face Lift," this treatment delivers surgery-like results without the need for incisions, bruising, stitches, or extended recovery time. While traditional surgery is more expensive and comes with higher risks, such as the use of anesthesia, swelling, infection, and long recovery periods, Plasma Fibroblast offers a minimally invasive, low-risk, and more affordable alternative to surgical procedures.
Anyone of any age can generally receive plasma treatment. While fibroblast plasma therapy is generally safe for most skin types, individuals with very dark skin tones may be at a higher risk of hyperpigmentation or scarring. It’s also important to avoid the treatment if you have certain skin conditions, such as active acne, eczema, or psoriasis, in the area to be treated.
-
Fibroblast plasma therapy utilizes a handheld device that generates a small, targeted plasma arc. This plasma arc is created by ionizing the gas (typically nitrogen) in the air between the device’s tip and the skin. When the plasma arc touches the skin, it creates tiny, controlled injuries, known as "dots," on the skin's surface. These dots are precisely placed in a grid-like pattern, causing the skin to contract and tighten as it heals.
The micro-injuries caused by the plasma arc stimulate the skin’s fibroblast cells, which are responsible for producing collagen and elastin. As the skin heals, these fibroblasts generate new collagen fibers, resulting in firmer, more youthful skin. The treatment also encourages the regeneration of skin cells, improving the skin’s overall texture and tone.

Aftercare & Recovery
-
Before your treatment
Avoid any kind of tanning (Spray tanning, tanning injections, sun tanning and tanning beds) for 2 to 4 weeks before your treatment. Ideally, you should try to use SPF5O to prep your skin for 2 to 4 weeks before your treatment, especially if you are naturally darker skinned. You may even wish to consider using a natural Tyrosinase Inhibitor to helps ensure there is no overproduction of pigment in the skin aka hyperpigmentation.
Avoid any other type of procedures on the same area which you intend to have treated with Plasma Pen- No facial acids 14 days before or 21 days after Plasma Pen.
- No Botox or fillers 21 days before or after Plasma Pen.
- No Micro needling/PRP 21 days before or after Plasma Pen.
- No laser or peels (depending on intensity of peel) for 90 days before or after Plasma Pen.
- Surgical procedures like face lifts you must wait at least 9 months post-op/before Plasma Pen.
-
Immediately following treatment
- You may experience a “stinging” sensation in the treated area(s) immediately after treatment. This is normal and it generally only lasts for about an hour.
- If the treated area is swollen, you may apply ice packs covered with a clean cloth. Avoid taking anti-inflammatory medications like aspirin, ibuprofen or steroids if possible.
- If you are receiving a Plasma Pen treatment anywhere on your face or neck, we recommend you sleep on your back with your head elevated to reduce swelling.
- Do NOT cleanse the treated area until the following day.
- Do NOT exercise 48 hours after treatment or expose yourself to any heat, steam or sweat because this can intensify the inflammation that’s already present.
- Your technician will provide you with after care products and instructions. You must follow the provided aftercare.
- Protocol to expedite the healing process and avoid complications.
- The area that has been treated must NOT be covered with occlusive dressing or any type of sunblock, make-up, mascara, creams or any other products until the area has fully healed.
- It is highly unlikely you will ever get an infection from a Plasma Pen treatment, as the wound we cause is not open. However, the first 12 hours post-treatment is vital that you could expose yourself to contaminants.
- You may return to work the following day. However, you will not look your absolute best during the initial healing process (approximately 7 days).
- Expect redness, swelling and inflammation for the first 1 to 5 days post-treatment. This is normal but will usually be of a very minor nature.
-
Following days after treatment
- It is normal for the area that has been treated to be red/pink, swollen and feel tight and dry. Occasional weeping is normal and will settle.
- Tiny crusts will quickly form on the treated area. These may be visible for up to about a week. Do not pick these.
- The area(s) treated may be cleansed daily with room temperature water and your fingers. Avoid using washcloths or any other washing devices. Do NOT be tempted to rub, brush or exfoliate the area in any way to aid in the removal of the crusts.
- Do NOT stand with your face under a hot shower for the first 3-4 days and avoid shower gels. This could increase swelling.
- Avoid swimming or chlorinated water and sea water as it can increase irritation and cause possible infections.
- Keep scabs/crusts moist by applying provided aftercare three times a day – but only in small amounts, do not soak the area.
- If you have had treatment around your eyes, you should avoid wearing contact lenses for 72 hours after your treatment.
- Once the scabs have fallen off (approximately 7 days), your skin may be a little pink. You may begin to apply your normal foundation /make-up/sunblock but avoid using skincare products containing glycolic/salicylic/retinoic/AHA/ scrubs/Clarisonic or any other active exfoliating ingredients/devices for at least 21 days, as this will cause irritation. ABSOLUTELY NO MAKEUP UNTIL SCABS HAVE FALLEN OFF.
- Avoid sun exposure. Once the scabs have fallen off, you must wear a physical sunblock (zinc & titanium) and a hat while your skin is in the healing stages (pink in color) and you should continue to do so for at least the next 12 weeks to avoid hyperpigmentation.
- Do NOT sunbath/sun tanning beds for 10–12 week post procedure
- Do NOT have any other facial treatments in the same treatment area while your skin is healing (12 weeks).
Facts about Fibroblasting
What is Plasma?
Plasma is a medical procedure which involves the application of plasma to sublimate the skin without transferring heat to the surrounding tissue. Sublimation is the process of turning a substance from a solid straight into a gas. There is no electric current flowing.
Is Plasma Laser?
Plasma is not laser, hence in Australia, there is no official regulation surrounding its use.
Unlike other laser apparatuses that require a certain license, plasma does not require a specific licence to operate. However at SAE Health we have a minimum requirement for staff to perform fibroblasting.
Practitioners MUST have completed a minimum of one of the following;
- Diploma of Beauty Therapy
- Diploma of Nursing (EN)
- Prof.Cert in Dermatology & Dermatoscopy for Aesthetic Practice
Or, ALL of the below
- Prof.Cert in Laser Safety from an official RTO provider
- Infection Control certificate for skin penetration treatments from an official RTO provider &
- A certificate from a course that is specific for plasma fibroblast.
Fibroblast results are noticeable early and last for years
Regardless of the area of treatment, Fibroblast results become noticeable almost immediately. As cell turnover occurs and the production of collagen increases, you will continue to notice changes to your skin. You should expect to see the full results of your treatment in 90 days. The results typically last two to four years. Depending on the skin condition, the client may require 2 procedures spaced in 90 days.
What is TGA?
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) is the regulatory body for therapeutic goods in Australia. It is responsible for ensuring that medicines, medical devices, blood products, and other therapeutic goods are safe and effective for use. The TGA assesses and monitors these products before they can be made available to the public. Additionally, it regulates their manufacturing, advertising, and ongoing safety, ensuring that they meet strict standards.
The Science
This pen uses a metal probe to ionize atmospheric gas between its tip and the gasses that the skin naturally emits. This forms a plasma charge. An electrical arc is then created, shrinking the targeted skin. Your tissues will retract and tighten, providing you with a more youthful-looking appearance.
